Pulau Ubin: “Watch out for wild dogs.” (video!)
That was Rob’s advice when I told him where I was headed. Pulau Ubin proved to be the perfect, non-touristy day trip from squeaky-clean, mainland Singapore. Continue reading
Weekly Photo Challenge: Silhouette2
Walking through Little India, I spotted these two Hindu women walking ahead of Ryan and me. My 2nd entry for this week’s photo challenge.
Meet Ryan
Sometimes I venture downstairs to The Bank, a pub directly below Rob’s place. That’s where I met Ryan, a married American who’s been living in London for 4 years, here in SIngapore for a two weeks on bidness. Continue reading

I can see Indonesia from my house!
It was actually Tina Fey (playing Palin) who said, “I can see Russia from my house!” What Palin said – “You can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska” – while insignificant, is at least accurate. Continue reading

Meet “B”
..or maybe he meant “Bi”, short for “Wibi”, but that sounds different than “B”. He was my seatmate – 25 years old, Indonesian – on the 4-hour flight from Hong Kong. Continue reading

Packing
Today I practiced packing. Tiger Airlines to Singapore is allowing less than Delta to Hong Kong, so I had to pare down. Here’s everything I’ve got with me now:
I liked cow stomach better when I thought it was squid
After several bites, I said something about the squid and Queenie said, “That’s not squid.” I can’t explain how it suddenly tasted bad – like slightly-spoiled meat – but it did. Continue reading
