After just over a year in Seattle, I’m moving to…guess where! Continue reading
Filed under plans & logistics …
In Boston for now
Ok, I think I want to hang out in the US awhile. Either Seattle, Boston or NYC. Having outlived its intent, Ohiasia will soon be paused. Continue reading

New Plan: Backpacking Southeast Asia
With 100+ days until I fly to Austin, it’s feeling like a good time to do some backpacking-type-travel. Pictured in blue, S.E. Asia is just 60% the land area of the Continental US. Continue reading
Let’s get outta here!
Made it through customs, ordered breakfast, ready to get to Rob’s place! Continue reading
Packing
Today I practiced packing. Tiger Airlines to Singapore is allowing less than Delta to Hong Kong, so I had to pare down. Here’s everything I’ve got with me now:
11 Days Until Singapore
I’m really ready to get there, reconnect with my friends,
Singapore Break: October 9 – ?
I would like to stay in HK awhile longer, but just learned that a work visa would take longer than time I have left on my 90-day tourist visa.
Plane. Train. Taxi.
For a short while the seat-screens stopped working. Thank goodness there was a duck-looking penguin sitting there to assure everyone. (There, Barco. There’s your penguin I snapped for you.) We got these menus before we took off: Catch this part at the bottom? About beer and wine being complimentary? It was box wine. Jerri Tudor, … Continue reading
High hopes for the 16 hour flight
It was going to be great: I was going to read my new book, Pretty Woman Spitting, watch in-flight movies, design and lead a challenging, calorie-burning, confined space workout for the entire plane, interview and photograph everyone on their thoughts on HK and the US, update the blog and start a non-profit for… something with animals. … Continue reading
Here I go for-realsies!

Gear / Luggage: How I decided on my Eagle Creek bag.
I love the idea of light, “one bag” travel and over the past few months, have enjoyed blogs dedicated to carry-on-only travel like 1bag1world and especially onebag.com. I was almost sold on the Red Oxx “Air Boss”, but eventually concluded that a packed-mostly-full Air Boss would just be too heavy to have hanging on one side … Continue reading
Montauk for 3 days
We packed up Berlin (there on Lea’s back), hopped on a train and headed to Montauk for a long weekend.
Final luggage: here’s what I’m traveling with!
I had a fantasy of carrying on everything I’ll bring to Hong Kong, but alas, I couldn’t manage any less than 1 checked bag and 2 carry-ons. Continue reading
Productive morning
I love visiting Evelyn because she goes out and gets BREAKFAST TACOS from Wheatsville Co-op. After breakfast we finally occupied (well, a-third-occupied) unit #2081 with everything I own. Then came back home to this sight:
Storage unit. Check!
Who knew the college kids would snatch up all the daggone storage units for the summer! Got a 4’x10′ until a 5’x5′ comes available. Here’s Evelyn with Andrea, our professional storage consultant.
Got my ticket! (12 days till HK)
After a bit of back and forth with Brenda this week I finally got my ticket!! Continue reading
